How Subsig measures visibility

How Subsig measures visibility

The definitions behind every number in Subsig.

These definitions apply everywhere in Subsig: in the dashboard, in reports, and in the data your agent reads over MCP.

Visibility

Metric

What it measures

AI visibility score

Share of eligible checks where the brand was mentioned, smoothed so a brand with only one or two checks can't spike to a false 100%. Calculated as mentioned ÷ (eligible + 5) × 100.

Share of voice

The same mention count as a plain share of every tracked brand's mentions. Every brand's slice adds up to 100%, which is why it can read differently from the visibility score on a small sample.

Average position

Your average rank inside an answer when you're mentioned. Lower is better. Empty if the brand has never been mentioned.

Rank

Brands sorted by visibility score, then share of voice, then average position. A brand that has never been mentioned always sorts last.

Sentiment

Metric

What it measures

Sentiment score

An average across every scored mention. Labeled Positive at 50% or more positive mentions, Negative at 40% or more negative mentions, and Neutral otherwise.

Citations

Metric

What it measures

Citation

One instance of an AI answer linking to a domain or URL while discussing a tracked brand.

Retrieval

One time an AI engine pulled a page while preparing an answer, whether or not it linked to it.

Citation rate

How often a domain or page gets cited when it's retrieved. Low means it's read but not credited.

Domain share and URL share

Your site's or your pages' share of all retrievals.
